Alistair McGlashan has fished all his life for everything from thousand pound black marlin on the Great Barrier Reef to black bass in Papua New Guinea. His love of fishing and the great outdoors ultimately steered him away from the corporate world and into a career as a photojournalist specialising in fishing and outdoors. And he has never looked back!

 Alistair spends more than 200 days a year on the water where he has earned a reputation as one of Australia’s most respected fishing and outdoor photojournalists. Despite having no formal training in journalism (in fact his English teacher still doesn’t believe he writes for a living!) Alistair regularly contributes to a number of national magazines including Modern Fishing, Saltwater Fishing, Bluewater Mag, Fly Life, Freshwater Fishing, NSW Fishing Monthly, Fishing New South Wales, Fishing Queensland and Fishing Victoria, Modern Boating, Hunter, Go Camping, Outback Magazine, 4x4 Australia, Casino Magazine and Luxury Travel.

 On the international scene, Alistair has worked with Marlin Magazine, Sportfishing, Fly Fishing in Saltwater, Big Game Journal, Saltwater Sportsman, Gray’s Sporting Journal, New Zealand Fishing World, De Peche De Mer (France), Ski Boat Magazine (South Africa) and the World Billfish Series. The total circulation of magazines that Alistair’s contributes to is well over a million readers worldwide. He has also published two books - Catching Australia’s Favourite Fish and Top Fishing Spots of Australia and is now working on his third The Complete Fishing Bible.

His enthusiasm for fishing has also helped him step into the world of television. Over the years he has appeared in various fishing shows, as well as live interviews. In 2005 he co-hosted Fishnet TV on Channel Ten and more recently he has been contributing to Escape with ET as well as IFish . On top of this he has also been working with award winning cinematographer Ron Croft to film the Strikezone series of ground breaking DVDs. Revaling the secret lives of oceanic predators like marlin and sharks the series is set to be the highest selling fishing DVDs in the country!

 An accomplished sportfisherman Alistair has competed and won many of the country’s larger tournaments from Cairns to Coffs Harbour to Exmouth and even Bermagui. Specialising in trailer boat sportfishing he mainly targets blue water pelagics like billfish and kingfish. Although based in Sydney he has travelled to all four corners of this sun burnt land as well as many exotic overseas locations such as Africa, Midway Atoll and Papua New Guinea to name a few just to catch fish!
